Birmingham's BIGGEST Halloween Event: Zombie Ball - Dance Of The Dead

On Saturday 29th October, the Birmingham Ballroom (the original Academy) plays host to Birmingham's BIGGEST Halloween Event: Zombie Ball - Dance Of The Dead. With a free glass of 'Zombie Punch' on entry, prizes for the best dressed zombies, a midnight thriller dance, cheap drinks and a variety of music to suit every zombie on the dance floor, including rock, punk, metal, indie, dance, hip-hop and alternative… it's going to be a night to remember!

Learn the Dance of the dead dance moves here on the Thriller in the City website and get ready for a midnight flash dance to remember.

There will be a unique zombie apocalypse themed stage for 20 zombie dancers and a fantastic 'ball like' feel to the venue. It's going to be as if the zombie apocalypse just hit a high school prom, destroyed it and feasted on the brains of the decapitated prom queen!

The event is in aid of raising money for the fantastic local charity St Basils, that help prevent youth homelessness across the West Midlands. St Basils works across Birmingham Solihull and North Worcestershire to prevent youth homelessness by providing a range of support services and supporter accommodation. They work with people aged 16 - 25 including some young mums and dads, making them the perfect charity for the Zombie Ball to support and raise money for.

Ticket prices are £3 advance or £4 on the door and can be purchased from the Zombie Ball Website at www.birminghamzombies.com/zombieball

All the information you need… for now.

Ssshhhhh!… As you know....a mass thriller Flash mob will be descending on a secret city centre location on 1pm on Saturday 16th April.  We are really excited that you and your friends are going to be part of it. Remember, a flash mob only works when we can surprise people, and we are trying to stop this from becoming widely known – whilst still getting hundreds of people to take part!

So here is the information you’ll need… for now

·         If you haven’t already, tell your friends and get them all to register online here

·         Learn the dance moves from our instructional dance films online.

·         If you want a helping hand attend one of our free dance classes  this Wednesday  at 7.30pm – 8.30pm at DanceXchange, Level 5, Thorp Street, Southside, Birmingham, B5 4TB

·         If you want to take part but not learn the dance – come along and freestyle around the edge.

Location Announcement
On  Saturday 16 April come to the main entrance of Birmingham Hippodrome  at 11am to hear the location announcement and to get a map of where the flash mob will take place if you need one.

Birmingham Hippodrome, Main Entrance, Hurst Street, Birmingham B5 4TB How to find us

If you are driving park at one of the many pubic car parks close to the theatre. The location it is not too far from Birmingham Hippodrome and there is enough time after a quick rehearsal to get to the space. We will flash mob at 1pm – After the dance we will be asking you to disperse and look natural the key ingredient to a successful flash mob.

What to wear?
We are not doing a full costume Thriller flash mob as it would be too much of a giveaway and we also don’t want it to cost you too much money to take part – BUT if you want to make some last minute zombie or Michael Jackson like touches to your usual clothes – why not?

·         Wear whatever you like. Have a spare sequined glove or MJ style jacket in the wardrobe? why not slip it on. Want a spot of fake blood running from your mouth to get you in the Zombie mood? Feel free!

·         Remember - wear comfortable shoes suitable for dancing.

·         There will be a small number of professional and community dancers around wearing red Thriller in the City tee shirts – you can follow their lead and they will be able to point you in the right direction on the day.

Remember you’ll be dancing in a crowd – so allow enough space around you to move.  Don’t forget to warm up you are responsible for your own well being.

Filming We want the Flash mob to look brilliant online, so we have arranged for three or four official cameras to be around to capture the action.  We also want to see footage that you might capture on your mobile phones. Put it up on our Facebook page, email it or send us a disc. If you put anything on line make sure you tag any images, films, posts or tweets as #Thrillerinthecity so that we can easily find it.
